Introducing HIP into baroque opera performances: How Handelian operas have been historically staged

This lecture will review the differences in definition and general understanding between HIP in the limited sense of "Historically Informed Performance" (HIP) and HIP in the broader sense in the staged performance of early operas in the Baroque operatic repertoire. Then, we will discuss the series of attempts at HIP productions of Handel operas within the context of occasional performances.
